“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV
When lions hunt for prey, they usually work in packs. They may chase their prey until the young, weak, or sick lag behind making an easy target. Our enemy, the devil, often attacks us in a similar manner. He knows that we are easy prey when sickness, burdens, tiredness, anxiety or stress wear us down and we become spiritually weak. For this reason, we must keep our spirits revived, especially during trying times. Our text gives us instructions that, if followed, will revive our spirits when we are spiritually down. We must stand firm. We must make sure our spiritual footing is firm and solid. The context of 1 Corinthians 15 is God’s promise of resurrection and immortal life. We must have a firm grip on these promises. When we are down, the devil will tell us that we have no reason to stand strong spiritually. He is a liar. We have a bright eternal future! Stand firm in Bible study and prayer! When we are down and defeated, often the first duty we neglect is our personal time with God. Bible and prayer are our spiritual nourishment (Psalms 119:133). Stand firm in character! Guarding our hearts (Proverbs 4:23). Let nothing move us. This means that we must not be moved from our place. Not allowing outside forces or people to move us. Be unmovable in biblical convictions! By careful Bible study, establishing biblical convictions in our hearts and not budging! Being unmovable by staying away from those who cause us to question Biblical truth. Being unmovable by resting our faith on God our only foundation.
