THE CONFESSING ONE

“Whoever acknowledges Me before others, I will also acknowledge before My Father in heaven.”           Matthew 10:32 NIV

 

One of the most vital ministries the Lord provides for us is His ministry of intercession. According to the Bible, Jesus confesses us before the throne of God, as our text reveals. He is our one and only Mediator, as we read in 1 Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.” As our Mediator, He expresses our hearts and our needs before the throne of grace. May we hear the words of Hebrews 7:25 afresh, “Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.” What an encouraging reality! Our Lord Jesus is praying for us! Even when we are not on praying ground, He always is! Because He perfectly fulfilled God’s plan of redemption, He sits in the presence of the Father as the guarantee of all the promises of the new covenant of grace! Jesus is not only our Confessing One. He is also our Confirming One. His presence in Heaven is the guarantee of our presence in Heaven someday. Ephesians 2:6 reminds us, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” Why? Because, when we were saved, we were placed in Him, and He was placed within us. His presence in us is God’s guarantee that He will finish His perfect work in us. Our presence in Him means that even though we live on this earth, as far as God is concerned, we are already home!

 

PRAYER THOUGHT

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your indwelling presence in our lives.

 

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, when You saved us, You placed us in Your Son, Jesus Christ, and He was placed in us, through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. Your presence in us is Your guarantee that You will finish Your perfect work in us. Our presence in You means that even though we live on this earth, as far as You are concerned, we are already home! AMEN
