Someone once said, “In the first century in Palestine, Christianity was a community of believers. Then Christianity moved to Greece and became a philosophy. Then it moved to Rome and became an institution. Then it moved to Europe and became a culture. And then it became a business.” Do we realize today Christianity can be business? Do we realize today people can make money out of Christianity? It is a multi-million, multi-billion, if we may call it industry in many parts of the world. Christianity can be a kind of business. Yesterday we looked at Jesus’ last entry into Jerusalem. He did not ride in on a military horse, but He rode in on a humble donkey. Telling us that He is King but a very different kind of King, not a King that crushes people but a King who saves people. He did not come to take lives He came to give His life. Entering Jerusalem, He throws out the money changers, the people who were selling and buying the animals. He was cleansing his Father’s house. What was God’s original intention for this gathering place? To be a place of prayer, but more than prayer. A place for those who would want to come to minister to Him, love Him, serve Him, obey Him. This is our purpose too! To worship God, to give, to sacrifice, to serve, to love Him, to obey Him to hear His Word that we may know what it means to obey Him.
PRAYER THOUGHT
Lord may our worship lead to obeying You in all things.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, may we never forget that it is our purpose to pray, to give, to sacrifice, to serve, to love You, to obey You, to hear Your Word that we may know what it means to obey You. AMEN
