BRINGING GLORY
“This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples.” John 15:8 NIV
The Sovereign purpose of our lives as disciples of Jesus is to bring Glory to God. The Bible teaches that humanity was made in the image of God, meaning we reflect something of God in our essence, and yet our essence lack’s completion without knowing Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. Through His work on the cross, Jesus came and made a possible full relationship with God and the ability to fulfil our supreme purpose. To come to know Jesus Christ is to find the supreme purpose of our human existence: knowing God and making Him known. Those rooted in Christ are those who have grasped that we bring nothing to the table in terms of our salvation. We become those who live in response to the Grace of God, because in Jesus Christ we have all that we need, in every season of life, on every road we walk. We live with Jesus Christ, dependant on Him and for Him. The response to the Grace we have received in Jesus Christ, is one of action. We as disciples of Jesus are those who recognise His Lordship. In response to all that Jesus has done for us, we continue to live by His teachings, centring our lives on His word and example. Being shaped by the sum of His teaching as we live for Him. The words of Jesus must dwell so deeply in our hearts and minds that obedience to Him and His way becomes the most natural thing, bringing Glory to the Father.
PRAYER THOUGHT
Lord Jesus, let everything in us bring glory to Your Father.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord Jesus, through the power of Your indwelling Holy Spirit, let Your words dwell so deeply in our hearts and minds that obedience to You and Your way becomes the most natural thing, bringing Glory to the Father. AMEN
