“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:10 NIV
The answer is that we should be sowing in good soil. We read the parable of the sower who sowed his seed in good soil and received a good harvest (Mark 4). The best soil to sow our seeds in is the Kingdom of God where our seeds produce the salvation of souls and an increase of God’s kingdom. Our text today reminds us that, through the leading of the Holy Spirit, we need to seek opportunities to sow. It is often a waste of money to give to worldly organizations that do not increase the Kingdom of God! We need to be discerning in our sowing. There needs to be accountability. It is not good enough to simply sow into any church, ministry or Christian organization, but we must sow where fruit is produced. In the parable of the talents, the man with the one talent buried the talent he was given. There was an expectation from the one who had entrusted the talent to him that there would be some fruit. There was none and he had to give his talent to the man who had ten talents and not to the man who had five talents. Therefore, God often gives His resources to those who produce the most fruit, and not to those who have the greatest needs! Within the principle of sowing and reaping there is always an accountability with what has been entrusted to each one of us. I recall a statement about God asking us two questions: “What did you do with my Son, Jesus Christ? And what did you do with the grace I entrusted to you?”
PRAYER THOUGHT
Lord, make us aware that we are accountable to You for our lives.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thank You, Father, for all that You have entrusted to us. May we sow wisely into Your Kingdom, knowing that we are accountable to You. AMEN
