“You will be a crown of splendour in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” Isaiah 62:3 NIV
The picture from yesterday continues in verse 3 as God speaks to His people through the prophet Isaiah on what they will become. We have this in what God has accomplished for us in the finished work of our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ, through His Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension. In Christ alone, in and through the indwelling power and ministry of the Holy Spirit, we will no longer be defiled and filthy because of our sins. God has saved us so that we are pictured as a beautiful crown in His hand. We are possessed by God through the presence of His indwelling Holy Spirit in our lives, each moment of each day. We belong to Him and are in His hand – a beautiful picture of God’s relationship with us. The point is that God has made us glorious. We have been transformed from filthy sinners to a beautiful crown in the hand of the Lord. Isaiah 62:4 continues to describe this new relationship that we will have with the Lord because we have been forgiven. We will no longer be forsaken or desolate. Think about how God would make this promise to His people that he would not leave them and would be with them wherever they went. This was visualized when the people were in the wilderness and God led them with a pillar of fire and cloud. God was with His people for their journey to the promised land. In the same way, we see this same promise given to us, now, through His Holy Spirit in our lives, day by day. What a word of encouragement this is for us today. We are a crown of splendour to our Lord because of His mercy and grace in Christ.
PRAYER THOUGHT
Lord, thank You for making us into a crown of splendour for Your glory.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thank You, Lord, that we are possessed by You through the presence of Your indwelling Holy Spirit in our lives, each moment of each day. We belong to You and are in Your hand. Thank You for this reality no matter how we feel. AMEN
